You should know, though, that the rules for workers’ comp can be complicated. For example, you can be paid for lost time only if you lose more than seven days of work, and the first seven days are not payable until you lose 14 consecutive days. In addition, according to OBWC, these are the five most common benefits for injured workers through workers’ compensation that you may be entitled to receive: temporary total compensation for a worker who is 100 percent temporarily disabled as the result of an injury or occupational-related disease; wage compensation to workers who are working with restrictions due to an injury, and those restrictions then result in reduced earnings, or injured workers who are actively seeking but not able to find work that they’re physically capable of performing; permanent partial disability as a result of an injury or occupational disease; permanent total disability for workers who are declared permanently and totally disabled by the Industrial Commission of Ohio – meaning the injured worker is not capable of returning to the former position or any other employment; lump sum settlement to injured workers who have agreed with their employer to settle the workers’ compensation claim.
