Learn information about Columbus, OH.
The park, formerly known as City Center Mall, underwent a transformation when the city of Columbus gave the Battelle Riverfront Park project to Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture in 2005. The rejuvenated park now consists of wetlands, meadows, and pocket prairies, as well as walking and bike paths, recreation areas, and a playground. As soon as you enter the park grounds, you’ll be struck by its beauty. The new walks, which vary in length and difficulty, connect to the downtown pathways and create convenient routes to travel around the city. Colorful wildflowers and lush grasses line the paths, while shady trees offer welcome shade in the summer months. The park has something to offer everyone. In addition to the relaxed atmosphere, families and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of activities, including fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming on the lake. The park also has a number of recreational spots, from the Meigs Playground to the Whetstone Miniature Golf Course, a quarter-mile jogging track, and a number of workout stations. For those who prefer simply relaxing and taking in the park’s serene beauty, there are multiple open spaces, benches, and picnic tables.
